The Akedah Series
The Akedah series originated in a deeply personal trauma: a profound betrayal by those closest to the artist, an experience that shattered fundamental assumptions about trust, intimacy, and faith. While initially rooted in a private history, these works acquired an unexpected collective dimension in the aftermath of the events of October 7 and the social rupture that followed.
Through the language of clay, the artist transforms the vessel—one of humanity's oldest cultural forms—into a site of psychological and emotional testimony. Torn surfaces, ruptured walls, pierced volumes, and fractured bowls embody states of grief, vulnerability, and spiritual dislocation. The ceramic object ceases to function as a container; instead, it becomes a witness to loss.
Emerging from this body of work, The Akedah reconsiders the biblical narrative of the Binding of Isaac not as an account of obedience or sacrifice, but as a meditation on the deepest human wound: the violence inflicted by those to whom we entrust our lives. In doing so, the works move beyond autobiography, inviting reflection on betrayal, collective trauma, and the fragile possibility of renewal.
