EHUD BERG
For over five decades, my practice across sculpture, painting, and ceramics was anchored in absolute optimism and humanism. My hands were dedicated to structures of order, driven by a profound belief in the collective values of family and society.
Between 2021 and 2025, that foundational reality collapsed. A painful rift within my immediate family instigated a deep personal alienation, which directly mirrored a wider, national catastrophe. As society fractured around civil crises, and subsequently plunged into the historical trauma of the October 7th massacres and the ongoing hostage crisis, my personal grief merged with a collective wasteland. The abrupt abandonment of foundational human bonds became an existential crisis.
Within this crucible, my practice underwent a radical transformation. Moving to the volatile mediums of clay, hand-forged iron, and actual dust and ash, my material choices became direct acts of testimony. The vessels and forms emerging from my hands were stripped of functional utility; they became wounded, penetrated, and physically ruptured bodies.
My work serves as a physical archive of this transition—a journey through the dark corridors of systemic abandonment toward a persistent search for structural truth. My art interrogates how individuals, families, and societies survive the shattering of their ultimate beliefs
