Blue Skies, 2023
Site-specific installation: dust, ash, and acrylic on semi-curved canvas (2.7 x 7 m), raw earth, and multi-channel soundscape
This monumental work is operating as a contemporary necropolis. Rendered in actual dust and ash bound with acrylic, the lower register depicts the structural devastation of vehicle wreckage from the Gaza envelope, juxtaposed against a serene blue sky. Accompanied by raw earth and an original soundscape , the work explores the agonizing boundary between collective trauma and the persistent instinct toward renewal.
Soundscape composition and design by Leshem Ben-David.The original score weaves raw piano instrumentation with found archival audio from the disaster—incorporating emergency radio transmissions, mobile phone recordings, sirens, and gunfire
