Metamorphosis, 2026
Copper Matte Raku ceramics | 46 x 38 x 30 cm
This sculpture merges biblical and classical myths, capturing an androgynous youth in traumatic metamorphosis. As the figure’s arms extend upward, they morph into the jagged contours of a severed tree—referencing both Isaac becoming inseparable from the sacrificial thicket and Daphne transforming into a laurel to escape violence. Executed in the volatile Copper Matte Raku technique, the resulting physical coloration shifts from burnt charcoal to iridescent copper green. This palette creates a complex tension between structural devastation and aesthetic beauty, presenting the body not as a static victim, but as a form undergoing irreversible, traumatic metamorphosis, dissolving into the landscape of its own containment
