Domestic Violance, 2022
Glazed wheel-thrown ceramics
50x22x20 cm
Domestic Violance operates as a silent, physical monument to a profound collapse of familial faith. Created in 2022 during a period of acute personal alienation and domestic rift, the sculpture evokes the dark, psychological shadows of biblical animosity—specifically the lethal envy of Joseph's brethren and the isolation of a brother discarded into the abyss. The structural tension of the piece rejects traditional containment, breaking through the delicate boundaries of the wheel-thrown vessel. The sharp, vertical, horn-like projections echo the trapped ram of the Akedah sacrifice, transforming the clay into a permanent archive of vulnerability and loss. Identifying with the position of the sacrificial victim, the artist anchors the heavy residue of institutional and domestic betrayal within the material. The piercing forms function as cold intrusions into a sanctuary, freezing the exact, suffocating threshold of a world fractured from within.
